Do jalapenos lose their heat when frozen?
Once you have thawed your frozen jalapeno peppers, you can use them as if they were fresh. They may not have the same crunchiness as a truly fresh pepper (especially if you blanched them before freezing). However, the flavor and heat will be almost identical to that of a fresh jalapeno.
Which is hotter habanero or bird's eye chili?
The bird's eye chili is small, but is quite hot (piquant). It measures around 50,000 - 100,000 Scoville units, which is at the lower half of the range for the hotter habanero, but still much hotter than a common jalapeño.
Why are they called Birds Eye Chilli?
They are presumably called Bird's Eye Chili because of their small round shape and because they have been spread by birds, which are not affected by the heat of the peppers. The Chiltepin pepper in North America is also known by the same name, and for the same reasons, but it is a different pepper altogether.
