What seasoning is good with tofu?
Here's a spicy way to start the day: Cook crumbled tofu until golden brown, and then add olive oil, onion, garlic, and bell pepper to cook for a few minutes. Season with curry powder, cumin, and coriander and stir to combine. Serve on whole grain toast with scallions sprinkled over top.
How bad is stinky tofu?
This process adds the familiar odor to the tofu, but doesn't ferment it completely. Like all traditional soyfoods, stinky tofu is a good source of isoflavones, compounds that may provide a number of health benefits. Stinky tofu is unique, however, in that it also contains good quantities of the isoflavonoid equol.
Does tofu smell bad?
Although not a perfect test, your senses are usually the most reliable instruments to tell if your tofu has gone bad. Some common traits of bad tofu are a change in color away from white toward a deeper tan and a sour smell. Fresh tofu does not really smell, so when you get the sour smell the taste will also be sour.
Is tofu bad in taste?
I'll be the first to admit it, tofu does not look so good (or taste very good) straight out of the package. In fact, it tastes like nothing—absolutely nothing. But this super bland initial taste is exactly what makes tofu so great; it doesn't have its own flavor so it easily absorbs any flavor of your choosing.
