What does goose meat taste like?
A wild goose, for instance, tastes like rich rare roast beef, only better. The pink flesh of a duck, dove, or even the lowly snipe has a delicate texture and a deep, full-blooded flavor that can become addictive.
Can goose be served pink?
Unlike turkey and chicken, which should be roasted until the meat is an opaque white, goose can be served slightly pink. However, the legs need cooking for a lot longer than the breast, so keep the temperature low.
Can you cook goose day before?
Can be done up to a day ahead and kept refrigerated. Heat oven to 240C/fan 220C/gas 9. If you want to give the bird a nice golden skin, brown in a large frying pan (or a heavy-based roasting tin), using a couple of tbsp olive oil.
Where do people eat geese?
Roast goose is a regular dinnertime centerpiece in Hong Kong, in Alsace, and, maybe ironically, in parts of Turkey. But in America, most people only associate goose with Christmas, like when Scrooge surprised the Cratchets with a roasted bird in A Christmas Carol to atone for his sins.
What geese favorite food?
Geese generally prefer clovers, bluegrass, orchard grass, timothy, and bromegrass over alfalfa and tougher grasses. You can also feed geese healthy greens and some green scraps, but avoid known poisonous greens (see “Things that are toxic to geese”, below).
