How do you devein shrimp?
For a shell-on recipe, twist off the head, legs, and tail, if they're still attached. Use the paring knife to carefully make a small slit along the back of the shrimp so you can slide out the vein with the tip of the paring knife or your fingers. Remove and discard the vein.
Is the vein on the top or bottom of shrimp?
There are two “veins.” One is a white vein which is on the underside of the shrimp. It is white because a shrimp has clear blood. There is no real food safety reason to remove this one (I don't) but you may do so if it bothers you. The main “vein” is the one which runs along the top of the body.
Can you eat tiger shrimp raw?
Tiger Shrimps Whether you buy the fresh or farmed tiger prawns, they have a unique oceany flavor. You can find frozen tiger prawns in the frozen section of the Asian grocery store. I would not recommend eating them raw. The tiger shrimps should be properly cooked, grilled, or fried before being used in sushi.
Is Tiger shrimp better than white shrimp?
TASTE: Black Tiger Prawns are most popular for having a bold, sweet taste, while white shrimp have a more delicate flavor. TEXTURE: Black Tiger Prawns have firm meat that has been described as a "snappy, meaty texture." White Shrimp have a softer, but still firm texture.
