How do you use Zatarain's crab boil concentrate?
Zatarain's Liquid Crab Boil is great for adding flavor excitement to other foods—hot dogs, fresh corn on the cob, potatoes, corned beef and ham. Just use the same proportions as for boiling shrimp. Or add a few drops in red beans, gumbo, gravy of marinades for extra zest. Shake well before using.

Can you overcook crabs?
Do not overcook crab legs. They are already fully cooked and it's just a matter of heating them through for a maximum of 4 minutes, or until hot to the touch. Over cooking the crab, and letting it sit too long in the water causes the meat to turn yellowish in colour and give it a strong fishy odour.
Is it easier to pick crabs hot or cold?
Definitely cold. Easier to handle, meat is firmed up, and less water on the paper. Even the not so full crabs taste better.
How long can I keep cooked crab in fridge?
5-7 days
Can you freeze cooked crab in the shell?
Yes. It's best to freeze crab in the shell, or in preparations such as crab cakes or casseroles up to three months. Without the protection of the shell or other ingredients, frozen crabmeat loses its tender texture and becomes stringy. Cook whole crab before freezing, and never thaw and then refreeze.
Why does crab turn black?
Crab blood can turn blue/black soon after being cooked if not at a full boil long enough, first in body meat and follows veins down into leg meat. ... This happens rather quickly as crab don't “travel well” and need oxygen and cold (not freezing) temperatures between catching and cooking.
Is it safe to eat dead Blue Crabs?
Blue crabs will taste the best if cooked alive, but they can still be eaten and taste good after they've died, as long as you ice them down, they are good for 24-36 hours max.
