Do I have to boil lasagna noodles before baking?
Do you have to cook noodles for lasagna? In this recipe, we don't cook the noodles before we assemble the lasagna. The liquids from the spaghetti sauce should be enough that the noodles will cook beautifully in the oven as the lasagna bakes.
How long do you cook noodles for lasagna?
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add noodles and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and set aside.
Does ricotta cheese need to be drained?
Yes! There are many types of ricotta cheese. You can even make homemade ricotta cheese. Not all ricotta needs to be drained, but for the purposes of today's post, I used some of the tubs you get at the grocery store in the dairy section which are often factory-made from cow's milk.

- If eating plain, drain for five minutes to get a moist, spreadable ricotta, or until you reach a consistency you enjoy more.
- If cooking in moist, savory dishes, approximately twenty minutes should achieve a cottage cheese consistency, with small, moist curds.
Why do you mix egg with ricotta cheese?
Ricotta cheese oozing between layers of lasagna in a baking pan. Adding egg to ricotta cheese helps to bind the cheese for lasagna so that it does not ooze out of the casserole when cut.
