Do you drain ground pork?
If you're cooking with ground pork for the first time, these food safety tips will come in handy. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS) explains that you don't need to rinse it before you cook it; the cooking process destroys all harmful bacteria, making rinsing unnecessary.
How do you know when ground pork is fully cooked?
Raw ground pork is soft, cooked ground pork should be solid (and, if overcooked, rubbery). You should be gauging doneness by the firmness of the dumplings, not cooking to time.
How does pork smell when it is bad?
The acidic, ammonia-like smell of bad raw pork will let you know if the meat has spoiled. Don't be afraid to sniff the package or ask the butcher if you can examine the meat up close before you buy it. If the meat is grayish pink and has no discernible odor, then you know it's fresh and good to eat.
Can you eat your own poop if you cook it?
In theory, yes, experts say. But the meat must be cooked, which will kill any noxious pathogens before you eat it. "In the food safety world we say, 'don't eat poop,'" said Douglas Powell, a professor of food safety at Kansas State University. "But if you're going to, make sure it's cooked."
Is poop supposed to float or sink?
Normal, healthy stool is solid and doesn't usually float or stick to the sides of the toilet bowl. But floating feces alone is not usually a sign of serious illness, and most of the time things will go back to normal with a change in diet.
